In brief

Your study account comes with information worth looking after. Here’s what we collect, why we need it, who helps us process it and how you can ask to access, correct or delete it.

Who this notice covers

Oyamu LLC operates Oyamu’s website and account services. This policy explains the information we handle when you use our services, contact us or make a purchase.

If an organization provides your account, its privacy notice and agreement with Oyamu may also apply. Paying for someone’s individual account does not automatically give access to their private study materials. Independent websites and exam administrators have their own privacy practices.

Information you provide

Account information includes your name, email, sign-in details, preferences and recovery information. When parent permission or a purchase requires it, we may also need a parent’s contact details and information to confirm their authority.

The features you use determine what study information you provide. This can include subject choices, target dates, answers, results, review history, plans, notes and saved materials. Uploads, AI conversations, feedback and support messages include the content you choose to send.

Purchases involve billing details, order history and payment references. Payment credentials are handled through the payment provider’s checkout. Do not send card details, passwords or sensitive records through support or study prompts.

Information from devices and other sources

When you access Oyamu, our hosting and security services receive technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, requested pages, timestamps and errors.

Optional website analytics measures page visits, selected actions and performance. Its configuration excludes form contents, session recordings, URL query strings and fragments. Optional chat processes the messages and technical information needed to run the conversation.

We also receive information from a sign-in provider you choose, a payment provider, a parent or organization acting for you, or a service you connect. The information depends on that relationship and the permissions you give.

How information is used

We use information to sign you in, maintain your account, save your work, provide the features you request and answer support questions. Order information supports payment, access, refunds and required transaction records.

Technical information helps protect accounts, prevent misuse, diagnose problems and keep the service reliable. Optional analytics helps us understand website usage. Marketing messages, where offered, include a way to unsubscribe; essential account, security and transaction messages are separate.

Your private notes, prompts and identity are not permission to publish an endorsement. A materially different use of personal information requires appropriate notice and a lawful basis.

Who may receive information

Personnel and service providers handle information needed for hosting, storage, account access, email, payments, support, diagnostics and AI features. See Service providers for their roles.

Sharing a resource or connecting a service sends the information you authorize to that recipient. An organization’s access to an organizational account depends on its agreement and permissions.

We may disclose information when necessary to meet legal obligations, respond to valid legal process, protect people or rights, obtain professional advice, or complete a business transfer subject to applicable protections.

Advertising, sale and sensitive information

The website’s current analytics and chat controls do not enable advertising trackers. Choosing analytics does not authorize advertising. Where a legal right to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising applies, you can exercise it through Privacy requests.

Keep government identifiers, payment credentials, precise location, patient records and other unnecessary sensitive information out of study materials and prompts. Study content can itself reveal sensitive details, so share only what the task needs.

AI processing

An AI request can send your prompt, relevant conversation history, selected files and authorized tool context to a model provider. Review the AI use notice before sharing private material.

Provider retention, monitoring and training terms depend on the service and account configuration. Do not assume every AI request has zero retention. Study feedback and readiness indicators do not determine official exam outcomes or a person’s legal rights.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on why information is needed. Account and study records support your use of the service and related requests. Transaction records may be retained for tax, accounting and disputes. Security records may be needed to investigate misuse or incidents.

The website’s cookie-choice record expires after 180 days. Account deletion is separate from clearing browser storage. Legal recordkeeping, unresolved disputes and limited backup retention can prevent immediate deletion of every copy.

Ask Privacy requests about retention or deletion of information associated with your account.

International transfers

Providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Those countries may have different privacy laws. Restricted transfers require an applicable legal mechanism and safeguards.

Contact support@oyamu.com to ask about processing locations and safeguards relevant to your account, including a copy of applicable transfer safeguards subject to necessary redactions.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising; or appeal a decision. See Privacy requests for the steps and available complaint routes.

Use Cookie settings for optional website analytics and chat. Account controls, where available, can help with export or deletion. Rights belong to the individual; a parent or representative may need to establish authority.

Young learners

Oyamu is intended for learners aged 13 and over. Minors need parent or guardian permission and must meet any additional local age and consent requirements. Children under 13 must not create accounts.

Contact support@oyamu.com if an account or information was supplied without the required eligibility or consent. See Young learners and parents for a shorter explanation.

Security and changes

We use safeguards to protect information, but no online service is risk-free. The Security overview explains account protection and how to report a concern.

Material changes to this policy will receive appropriate notice. Where required, a new use of information needs fresh consent or another lawful basis; changing this page does not retroactively authorize undisclosed processing.
